The Infamous Mrs. Moore
I found
this article about Lewis' now-infamous relationship
with the widow Moore. A strange relationship it was too.
Many people try to read all sorts of sexual elements into the relationship. But this article, I think, offers a perspective that would demonstrate this to be unlikely.
Read and decide for yourselves.
(Sammy or Willow, if you think this goes better in another forum, feel free to move it.) |

Sorry, Arch--I didn't get around to reading it until today. It's pretty fascinating, however; I'm not very well informed about that part of Lewis' life, but the article was an interesting read. I was particularly struck by the observation at the end about the effect this relationship may have had on Lewis' faith; I've lately been reading a lot of literature (for a class last semester, mostly), that really emphasizes penance or (as my classmate put it) "productive suffering."
Thanks for sharing the article! |
