Dictionary Game
In this game someone picks a word from a dictionary and posts the definition and how many letters are in it (without using the word picked, and the origin of the word is optional). And from that definition the other players must try and guess what the word picked is, they may ask questions about the word. The person with the word can give hints (such as what letter the word begins or ends with, how recently it is used or if one did not post the origin, one could do that) or more than one definition through out the game. The first person to get the correct word wins.
So I will go first, I will start with a easier one, here is the definition,
/adj[OF
estraneus
, fr. L
estrange,
fr.
extra
outside]
1: of external origin, kind or character.
There are seven letters in the word. |

Bumping this game because I learned a new word today.
The answer to the previous question is "Prig."
The new clue is:
Five letter word. An adjective for "curving or bulging outward"
If people guess and don't get it, I'll post further clues.
Edit: 150 posts till 5,000!!!! |

Hmm . . . Well, EJ didn't say. I'm going to say that you can use a traditional dictionary and/or thesaurus, but not an internet search, cause we don't want it to be too easy . . . but I will say that I should have given an additional hint to go with Sammy's incorrect guess, so I will say that the word is used in relationship to furniture. |

Typically for this game, you don't research at all, but as an online game, I say that it is fine to research however you want (since our members are so clever to think of such difficult puzzles for us)
Unless of course the person with the answer specifically asks you not to
*joins the I.A.S club (I am stumped)*
Ooh! Should I start a thread? |

Well, EJ started the game, so her rules go, and she said you can research however you want.
And because I have had two people say they're stumped, I shall add the clue that the word is of French origin. |
