A: Long ago, there was a princess named "Autumn". Each year, on her birthday, a great festival was held, and all the knights of the realm came to take part in a great tournament. The king had promised that on his daughter's 16th birthday, she would be married to which ever knight had won the most "Autumn Festival" tournaments up to that point.

On her 16th birthday, two knights were tied for the most wins, Sir Rashedad of Calormen, and Sir Sreen of Archenland. Autumn had been quite taken for many years with the dark Calormen's strange ways. But that year it was Sir Sreen who broke the tie and won the princess's hand.

Instead of honoring her father's promise (which would have been no more noble than marrying a Calormen, frankly), she stole away in the night with Rashedad. Sreen, of course, could not abide this, and tracked the two of them down.

When Sreen caught up to them, the two knights fought, with Sreen being the victor. But the rash Autumn screamed that she would rather die than be with a man she did not love. Then she took up Rashedad's sword and ...

... thought better of it. " REALLY now!" she said to herself. "Is any man worth dying for? Killing for, maybe, but not dying for. I mean ... come ON girl. No man is worth THAT !!!! Get a GRIP girl!!!"

So, Autumn let Sir Sreen return her to her father's castle where they were married the next day. As you might imagine, they did not live happily ever after. Autumn was a spoiled brat. She was impossible to please, and was always saying, "I'll bet Rashedad would never have done so-and-so." What a nag!

One day, she left a "Dear Sreen" note and simply disapeared, never to be heard from again.

From then on, each year on Autumn's birthday, Sreen held another "Autumn Festival" ... to celebrate her departure. The people of the kingdom have kept this tradition alive since his death many generations ago. Legend has it that someday Autumn will return on the day of her festival, and insist on marrying the looser.

In no other festival will you see knights battle so hard for victory.

And THAT is the Autumn Festival.

A. He tried to defect to Calormen, but after having him for a few days the Calormenes politely escorted him to the border and told him not to ever come back. As he wondered through SouthPass, Whoof took pity on him and convinced Arch to reluctantly hire him as a stable hand. It turned out surpisingly well, though. It seems Gumpas has a natural talent for shovelling horse manure.

A: It was known as "Queen Swanwhite's Folly". She spent millions of Narnian "Lions and Trees" building it as a special pork-barrel project for her constituents in that part of Narnia. This resulted in a general recession which nearly led to the Queen's ouster. Fortunately, she agreed to sign the "Magna NunOtraVez" (i.e. "REALLY, I won't do it again!!!") and barely managed to save her throne.

A: Well, you see, being as these are books written for children, a revised edition has changed the passage in question to "the vertically-challenged fictional person, (with permission both from Jill and Tirian (which he didn't need, because it is after all a free country)) lit his pipe, but realising that smoking is very bad for your health, recycled his pipe in the appropriate container (carefully extinguishing it, because only YOU can prevent forest fires) and began instead to do yoga."
